Viewing YTD 2026 (default) · no filters applied · 2026-01-01 to 2026-09-28
Channels: deliveries, reach and people reached count Email (work and personal) and Teams direct messages (none in 2026). Rates are email only. Microsoft Teams channel posts have no audience count, so they are excluded from reach. Recurring and triggered communications (birthdays, anniversaries, onboarding) are included in every figure. Select a card to see the section that explains it.
How is email engagement evolving?
Month-over-month email engagement at Dyne, 2026-01-01 to 2026-09-28. Channels: Email (work and personal) only — lines are email rates, bars are email deliveries. Microsoft Teams channel posts have no denominator and are excluded; there were no Teams direct messages in 2026. Includes recurring and triggered sends. A recipient counts as opened when they have a validated open (later than 30s after delivery) or any validated click — a click with no registered open counts as an open (reviewer rule, 29 Sep 2026).
Click rates are computed on click-eligible communications. Sep covers 1–28 Sep only: it is dashed and excluded from every average.
What changed month to month
Email (work and personal); includes recurring and triggered sends.
- Jan opened the year heavy: 2,095 deliveries at 55.1% click-to-open.
- Feb–Mar ran light on volume (about 615 a month) with the year's best open rates: 84.9% and 80.0%.
- Apr was the engagement low: 19.0% click-to-open on 1,381 deliveries.
- May was peak volume (2,299 deliveries, 22 communications) and still held 77.9% opens.
- Jun had the softest full-month open rate: 72.2%.
- Aug posted the highest full-month click-to-open: 62.5%. Scanner ⚠ Treat with caution: two IT emails with scanner-like click patterns drive much of that peak. A recipient counts as opened when they have a validated open (later than 30s after delivery) or any validated click — a click with no registered open counts as an open (reviewer rule, 29 Sep 2026).
- Sep is partial (1–28 Sep), drawn dashed, and left out of these comparisons.
- Reach held at 96% or more every month while eligible headcount grew from 259 (Jan) to 346 (Sep), and people with no recorded management level fell from 24 to 0 — a data-hygiene win.

Partnership to date (May 2024 – Sep 2026)
Full record, May 2024 to September 2026 — the whole partnership, wider than the rest of the hub, which defaults to YTD 2026. Send-time patterns need more slots than a single year provides.
Email (work and personal), manual communications only; recipient local time.
Company baseline: open 78.9%, click 26.7% (200 communications; 38,269 deliveries; click rate per opener across the 132 communications with links). Every delta below is in percentage points against it.

What this says
- Weekday mornings win: Tuesday 9am–noon holds 83.3% open across 19 communications, and Wednesday 9am 84.8% across 9.
- Early 6–7am sends open highest (93.3%) but are almost all CEO and company-news messages — content is likely driving that result, and most rest on a single communication.
- The weakest well-evidenced stretches are Tuesday 1–4pm, Wednesday 1–2pm and Thursday 3pm, all below the 78.9% baseline.
- Monday 9am reads 72.6% only because it carries 'Planned inspection when inspector arrives', sent on the export date with opens still arriving; without it the slot is 85.2%.
- Friday 11am is 72.4% with the real inspection communications kept (reviewer decision, 29 Sep 2026); the nine mock drills are out.
- Two slots are scanner-affected (⚠) and excluded from every finding above.
- Sunday sends are event-driven storm notices with no links; day and time views are context, not guidance.
Local time vs set time
Email (work and personal), manual communications, all-time.
| Scheduling | Comms | Deliveries | Open rate | Click rate |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Local-time | 16 | 2,798 | 82.4% | 22.5% |
| Set-time | 184 | 35,471 | 78.6% | 27% |
Open rate differs by +3.8 percentage points in favour of local-time scheduling, which clears the 3pp notability bar. Click rate — clicks per opener, link communications only — differs by 4.5 points in favour of set-time, which also clears the bar; 10 local-time and 122 set-time communications carry links. With one Boston hub both reflect what kind of communication gets scheduled each way, not geography.
Set-time communications by named zone
| Zone | Comms | Deliveries | Share of set-time |
|---|---|---|---|
| America/New_York | 94 | 15,798 | 44.5% |
| Immediate Send | 83 | 18,409 | 51.9% |
| No schedule record | 7 | 1,264 | 3.6% |
Informational only. Rates are never split by named zone, because different zones usually mean different audiences rather than different scheduling behaviour. Immediate Send needed no conversion — its recorded hour matches published_at in America/New_York on 107 of 107 rows.
Local-time recommendation
There isn't one. The local-time group is 16 communications across 13 slots, 10 of them resting on a single send. Its 82.4% open rate is real and worth acting on; the grid underneath cannot support a best-time recommendation.
Manual (non-lifecycle by the schedule field) email communications with at least 10 deliveries, over the full export (May 2024 – Sep 2026). Day and hour come from each communication's schedule record (Immediate Send is recorded in Eastern; Local Time is each recipient's own hour); seven unscheduled communications take their hour from delivery time in Eastern. Click rate is unique valid clickers divided by unique valid openers, over the 132 communications with at least one recorded click (rule, 29 Sep 2026). The nine mock inspection-drill communications are excluded (reviewer decision, 29 Sep 2026); the three real inspection communications stay. Method and figures reviewed and approved, 29 Sep 2026.
A recipient counts as opened when they have a validated open (later than 30s after delivery) or any validated click — a click with no registered open counts as an open (reviewer rule, 29 Sep 2026). Click rate counts only deliveries of communications that contain links - identified as communications with at least one recorded click. Communications without links are excluded from click-rate denominators (rule, 29 Sep 2026).
Manual communications only; recurring and triggered sends are excluded so automated journeys don't skew the picture. Slots under 90 deliveries are dimmed: Derived from the largest percentage jump in the lower half of Dyne's own slot distribution (28 to 90, +221%). It excludes only two slots (Tue 5pm and Wed 5pm) and is adjustable on request.
Turning communication data into actions
Every insight below is computed from Dyne's own delivery, open, click and reaction records. Channels: email rates plus Microsoft Teams channel counts; recurring and triggered sends are included. A recipient counts as opened when they have a validated open (later than 30s after delivery) or any validated click — a click with no registered open counts as an open (reviewer rule, 29 Sep 2026).

Automated journeys carry the send count
13 always-on communications (birthdays, work anniversaries, onboarding surveys) produced 1,295 of 1,397 send occasions (92.7%).
- Birthdays - Moment to Associate — 212 send occasions
- Birthdays - Manager Reminder — 209 send occasions
- Work Anniversary - Manager Reminder — 185 send occasions
- Birthdays - Moment to All Dynamos — 147 send occasions
What to look for: In the calendar, the recurring birthday and anniversary sends appear on most days — these are triggered sends, not one-off campaigns.
Strongest click-through program
IT Updates drives the highest click-to-open at 54.9% across 8 communications.
- IT Updates — 54.9%
- Dyne Updates — 52.6%
- Dynamo News — 35.6%
- People @ Dyne — 27.4%
What to look for: In IT Updates, compare its click-to-open with the other programs; August's peak partly reflects scanner-like clicks on two IT emails.
Department spread
Email open rate ranges from 62.0% (Digital & IT) to 87.3% (Genetic Medicines Research) across 14 departments large enough to report.
What to look for: In the department bar chart, compare Genetic Medicines Research (87.3%) at the top with Digital & IT (62%) at the bottom.
Managers and individual contributors
Managers open 73.6% and click 35.4% once opened; individual contributors 75.7% and 41.3%.
What to look for: In the management-level box, note that individual contributors click through more once they open.
Birthday posts in Teams
147 birthday posts in the company Teams channel drew 619 reactions.
What to look for: On the Microsoft Teams channel card, read posts and reactions as counts — there is no rate to compare.

Method
Per the qbr-analysis skill's engagement-by-person query: deliveries deduplicated per recipient address and moment grouping (earliest kept); a delivery counts as opened/clicked when that recipient has a matching open/click. On top, the QBR's approved validity rules: clicks removed when delivery/send, open and click fall within one 30-second span. A recipient counts as opened when they have a validated open (later than 30s after delivery) or any validated click — a click with no registered open counts as an open (reviewer rule, 29 Sep 2026). Engagement score = (opened + clicked deliveries) / (2 x deliveries). Click rate = clicked deliveries / that person's deliveries of communications with links (their open rate and score still use all deliveries). People with fewer than 20 YTD deliveries not ranked. Teams reactions shown as counts, not in the score. Click rate counts only deliveries of communications that contain links - identified as communications with at least one recorded click. Communications without links are excluded from click-rate denominators (rule, 29 Sep 2026).
Eligibility: only people with at least 20 deliveries in the window are ranked. Teams reactions are shown as a count but are not part of the score.

Are we communicating at the right frequency?
Communication load across the ten largest departments and weekdays, plus what the data says about saturation at Dyne. Channels: email deliveries (plus Teams direct messages, of which there were none in 2026); Teams channel posts are excluded. Headline frequency figures exclude recurring and triggered sends; the daily load grid and the load-versus-opens test below include them.
How frequency is measured
The measure is emails delivered per employee over a rolling 7 days, counted over every per-employee 7-day window with at least one delivery (42,974 windows YTD). Bands are percentile-derived from the manual-only distribution, not industry benchmarks: Low 1–2 (92.4% of windows), Typical 3 (7.5% of windows), Elevated 4 (0.1% of windows), with an observed maximum of 4.
At the reviewer's request, recurring and triggered (automated) sends are excluded from these headline figures. They are shown separately in the comparison below.
No employee received more than 4 emails in any 7-day stretch (automated journeys excluded; they are 25% of YTD deliveries) — communication load at Dyne is low.
The headline above excludes automated journeys; including them the distribution is:
| Emails per employee (7 days) | Mean | Median | p90 | p95 | p99 | Max |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Including automated journeys | 1.8 | 2 | 3 | 3 | 4 | 8 |
Share of windows including automated journeys: 77.9% at 1–2, 18.1% at 3, 3.2% at 4, 0.9% at 5+.
Emails delivered per employee over a rolling 7 days, only counting 7-day windows with at least one delivery; recomputed one way for both cuts so they compare like for like. The headline bands above and this comparison both use it.
Daily load grid
Each cell: deliveries per reached employee for that department and weekday, summed across the window, automated journeys included. A cumulative total, not the 7-day frequency measure above. Email deliveries only. Hover, focus or tap a cell for its detail.

No employee exceeded 4 emails in any rolling 7-day window (automated journeys excluded), and the median is 2. Engagement does not fall measurably as load rises (Pearson correlation, concurrent 7-day load vs email opened (per delivery): r = -0.0055, n = 13,894; this test covers all email, automated included). The effect size is negligible, so saturation must not be presented as a finding in this window.
How much does one employee receive?
Share of rolling 7-day windows by emails received, manual communications only. Bands are percentile-derived from this distribution.
Observed maximum: 4 emails in 7 days. Windows = per-employee rolling 7-day periods with at least one delivery.
Does engagement fall as load rises?
Email open rate by the recipient's concurrent 7-day communication load. All email, automated journeys included — which is why this chart shows higher weekly loads than the headline bands.
Effect size is negligible; heavier weeks do not measurably depress opens.
How are our programs performing?
10 Dyne programs in the current selection, ordered by deliveries and benchmarked against the 74.9% window-wide email open rate. Channels: all — email and Microsoft Teams channel posts; rates are email only. Includes recurring and triggered sends.

Inspection Update
Which channels work best?
Each channel on its own terms: email is judged on open rate and click-to-open; Microsoft Teams channel posts have no audience count, so they are counts only. Channels are not compared on one scale.
Email (work)
Email (personal)
Microsoft Teams channel
Birthday posts to a company Teams channel. Counts only.
Why click-to-open, not click rate
Click-eligible means a communication containing at least one click target (at least one recorded click in the window) — messages with no link cannot be clicked, so they are excluded from click denominators.
Largest excluded communication: Planned inspection when inspector arrives — 336 deliveries with no click target.
May 2026
Channels: Email (work and personal) with open rate and click-to-open, and Microsoft Teams channel posts as counts only. Includes recurring and triggered sends. Communication load is calculated on distinct audiences reached, not raw send count — four communications to four different departments is not overcommunication.
Reading a day: each card is a communication, shown on the day of its first send, and its figures cover all of that communication's sends (the card's send occasions). Recurring and triggered communications appear once, on their first-send day, not on every day they delivered. Day shading (communication load) counts the communications shown that day against the distinct audiences they touch.
May 2026 is the highest-volume full month in YTD 2026. Each card is a communication's first send that month.
What should we do next?
Analytics → Insight → Recommendation → Action. Every recommendation below is traceable to a measured figure in this Hub.
Email click rate of 29.7% charges every unopened email against the content.
What to look for: On the engagement chart, keep Click-to-Open and Click Rate both selected and watch the gap each month — April is the low point for both.
Planned inspection when inspector arrives and Planned inspection_room update 9.25 sit below the 74.9% benchmark.
What to look for: In Inspection Update, check "Planned inspection when inspector arrives": it has the lowest open rate among emails reaching 200+ people.
Teams channel posts can only be counted, because channel membership is not captured.
What to look for: On the Microsoft Teams channel card, posts and reactions are the only figures recorded.
More than communications. A smarter employee engagement engine.
Modelled figures: hours = (communications x 30 min) + (deliveries x 10 min) (30 minutes per communication, 10 minutes per delivery, 1,920 hours per FTE year). ChangeEngine default constants; not yet agreed with Dyne. Hours per month and FTE use full months only.
